Hi. My name is Viv Craske from Small Business Niche Marketing. And in this video, I’m going to take you through Step 5 of the Motivational Niching set of videos. Now if you’ve already watched the other videos that’s great. You know where we’re up to. If you haven’t, I highly recommend you to go and watch videos 1 to 4 before you watch this video.

So, we’re going to define your microniche. You’ve already looked at your marketplace, you’ve already found your niche, and many people put this saying, “Isn’t this enough, you know, you told me to niche, now niche, you know, isn’t this fine?” It’s not fine. Here’s why. With the rise of online and certain aspects of the high street’s not doing so well, the marketplace has become a lot more competitive right now. And there’s a million one competitors out there whether that’s US national or a worldwide online brand or just as a local company. There’s far more adverse out there, there’s far much noise that you need to cut through. In order to cut through that noise, you can’t just be a kind of specialist, kind of generalist. You need to come across as a very specific specialist in your marketplace to win your customers. So, so far, you’ve already picked the product line or service that you’re going to say as your niche. Now we’re going to develop a microniche. What’s a microniche? It’s just a small sliver from within a niche.

Let’s come back to that example of weight loss. So, if the market is weight loss, and the niche is say, women over 40, a microniche within that might be something that you find that your customers are coming to you time and time again before. Let’s say that you notice that many customers who are over 40 and they’ve had children and they say that, you know, one of the problems with losing weight is that our bodies are of different shape than before they had children. So, as a microniche, you could say, “I help women over 40 who’ve had children, who want to lose weight in time for summer.” Now that’s much more specific isn’t it? So, if you had that customer looking around for the right weight loss coach to work with, and they saw you saying that, they’d be pretty much more highly motivated to buy from you. Does that make sense? So here’s what you want to do is to find a specialism within what you do.

So let’s say the marketplace is event management. And a niche within that is helping manage corporate events for large corporations and then a microniche within that is that you find that you work for a lot of legal firms. So then you can say, “My microniche is, I organize corporate events for legal firms.” So you’ve got lot much higher specification around what you do. Now you can still do all those other things but just when you’re talking to that audience, you now have a microniche that’s far more attractive to them.

So I hope that’s useful and it helps you to do more of what you love and love more of what you do. I’ll see you soon.

Here’s how to identify a profitable niche for your small business to use in your online marketing.

Hi. It’s Viv Craske of Small Business Niche Marketing. And in this video, I’d like to talk to you about how to define your niche. This is Step 3 of the Motivational Niching video set and in this step we’re going to talk about how to define your niche.

So here’s the thing. Say, you do, I don’t know, say you’re a refurb and a refit company. That’s your market. That’s what you do. But let’s define what a niche is within that. So you might think about who you work with, what their needs are and the problems in that business. What do you do? Well, one of the things you might do on niche might have within that, is that you help people find better office furniture. So, rather than just being this large refurbishing company, now you have a much more specific thing that you help people find great looking office furniture.

So that’s your niche. So the question is, within all the products and services that you do, work out what one niche is. It might be one product line, one service line. But what’s one particular niche within that? Let me give you an example that is really clear. So, let’s imagine that you’re an entrepreneur and your business is a weight loss. Now, there’s a million and one of people out there offering weight loss programs. So, it’s not good enough to just say, I do weight loss. That’s not a niche. That’s a market. And what we’re looking for you to do is develop first a niche and then in the following video, I’ll show you how to find your micro niche. So you could you be much more targeted around what you do. You can be the specialist in your area because let’s face it; everyone wants to buy from a specialist.

Let’s say, for the sake of this video, you’re a woman, and you are over 40 and you’d like to lose a few pounds. And you met someone who said, “Hey, I’m a weight loss specialist, but what I actually specialize in is I help women who are over 40 lose weight.” Now, if you are a woman over 40 who wants to lose weight, doesn’t it sound like you just found the ideal person for you, because they’re going to understand your problems, your needs much better than just a general weight loss person. So, that’s why you want to find your niche. Think within your product line, your service line. Think around what your customers love you for and work out what your niche is.

I hope that’s helpful. My name is Viv Craske. Love what you do and do more of what you love.

You can use your passion and purpose in your business to stand out from the crowd. Here’s how to discover your passion about your work and use it in your marketing.

Before you can work out the demographic, before you can develop you niche, you market niche, before you can do your customer research, your competitive research, you need to know what you love doing.

So here’s how to use your passion and purpose in business. First off, let me tell you why you need to do that. Here’s why. Business is getting more and more personal with the advent of video marketing, email marketing, social media. People no longer want to buy a face’s company. People no longer want small businesses to act like large corporations. They want to work with people one to one, and get to know you. And your love of what you do, your passion would come across, and that would help you stand out in a competitive and crowded marketplace.

Ask yourself this — What is it about your job or your business that you love doing? Get really, really specific. Is it talking to customers on the phone? Or is it talking to customers face to face? Is it doing some technical piece of software online? Is it doing something in the boardroom? Is it making the teeth or your co-workers — what is the thing that you love, and start making a list of all the things that you love.

Once you got those things, I want you to work out how you can tell people about what your passion about business more and more often. Where your networking, when you’re out about, how can you incorporate what you’ve just discovered about what you love doing most into your pictures, into your sales presentation, into your brochures, into your marketing. So, how do you put that across? So, for me, I’d say that I love working with people who love what they do but they don’t love marketing. And that stands me apart from the competition. Many people out there teach you how to do Niching, marketing using social media, online media, but many of them just wanted to teach you the facts. They want to tell you how to do it. How I stand out is by my passion when I say, “I love working with people who have a real passion for what they do. Perhaps they’re creative, perhaps they’re entrepreneurial, and perhaps they’ve got a real drive and a mission around what they do.” Those are the people I love working with, and I help them do more of what they love and less time marketing.

So you see, when I tell that to people, it allows me to stand apart from the crowd and already niched myself and be seen as different from the competition. So, when you tell your passion, people listen. People love to hear what you love doing and they’ll think of you differently.

So once you got that, now you need to turn that into a purpose. What’s a purpose in your business? A great example of someone with a purpose is Richard Branson. He has a real definite purpose. He’s purpose is this — To be the consumer champion, to be the consumer underdog. He goes into markets and, you know, maybe they’re doing that well actually, goes to an established market, they are serving the customers well. If you think about financing banking that he moved into verge of money, if you think about airlines who verge in airways. Two markets that were doing ok, but they didn’t give a great customer service. And his passion, his purpose is around being the consumer underdog in giving you a better customer service. So that’s his purpose, to give you better customer service and to be the consumer champion.

So, what’s your purpose? Now, this would put many people say something like I have in the past – a great customer service, or we’re the best on what we do. That’s not really what I’m looking for here. I’m looking for a definite purpose. So, it could be something like, for me, helping small business owners achieve their dreams by spending more time doing what they love and less time marketing. So, that every business owner doesn’t need to spend as much time marketing and they can spend more time doing what they love. That’s my purpose. What’s yours? Work out your purpose and I’ll see you soon.

Hi. It’s Viv Craske from Small Business Niche Marketing and welcome to video 1 of the 10 Steps to Motivational Niching. And in this video, I’m going to share with you the most important starting place for how to Niching your business, and that’s defining your market.

Now, I guess many of you here already have a firm grip on your market and what it is. But here’s the thing. Overtime, we kind of lose track because of the company changes, the marketplace changes, what we do changes, who we employ changes, the vision for the company changes. And sometimes it’s easy to lose track of what market we’re in. Let me give you an example. Let me ask you, “What market are McDonalds in?” Now, you’re probably saying fast food right now. Some people out there who’ve maybe read a bit up on McDonalds would say, “No, no, no.” What they’re in is they’re in real estate business, because McDonalds is the number one land owner in the US, the number one corporate land owner in the US. So, really, they’re real estate business. But the business they’re really in, is in toy manufacture. McDonalds is the world’s largest toy manufacturer. So, that’s the market they’re really in. So, of course there are three markets that you could think about. But when they think about corporate strategy and where they’re going next, do you think they consider each of those markets separately and in a different way about what they do?

And here’s the thing. Think about Apple Computers. Years back the dropped the word computer from their title. Now, they’re just Apple. Do you want to know why? Because computers make up less than 10% of their business. The market they’re really in now is the telephone business, with the iPhone. Apple is more of a telephone company than they are a computer company now.

So let me ask you, what market are you actually in? One way of asking this is asking yourself, what products and services do we sell the most of? What feedback do our customers give us to tell us what we’re doing that they like? So let me give you an example of one my customers that I’ve worked with recently. She was a weight loss consultant, a very successful one at that. She regularly appears on BBC Radio and has been on several national magazines talking about what she does. What she realized she does is that in order to get for people to lose weight long term, you don’t just make people lose weight. You have to make them happy first, because many people emotionally overeat. So, she has two markets she’s in. One, she’s on the weight loss market. Two, she’s in the happiness market. And those two markets interlink, and she has to think about her customer based in terms of those two markets on what products and services she offers first to get the best flow of customers through her business in the longest retention.

So, have a think about what market you’re in based on what you actually do, not what products and services you have on your books. What do you actually do day to day? What ships, what products ship the most often, and what feedback do you get from your customers about your services. And then just make sure that you’re clear about what market you’re in.

So I hope that video was useful, and I’ll see you soon.

Hi. It’s Viv Craske from Small Business Niche Marketing and the founder of the Small Business Niche Marketing Done For You Program. And on this video, what I like to share with you is the idea of niching and why you as a business should seriously consider niching your products and services straight away.

So what is niching? Niching sometimes sounds a bit like, you know, like, some strange little crook, in a rock, in a maybe, it’s a bit ruby and a bit dark, and it where a bird sits and lays its eggs. But in my mind that is not what a niche is. Niche is a place where you can get a strong, firm foothold in a rock. Make sure that your position to deliver the best products and services from that foothold and then spread out and develop a firm foundation for your business and service within that niche.

So why would you and your business want a niche? Well there’s two very strong reasons why you wouldn’t want a niche. Number one, if you already completely dominated your marketplace. Number two, if you’re a large corporation like Tesco or McDonalds and you have enough money to throw around to advertise very very heavily within your market.

So why would you want a niche if you’re not either one of those two options? Well, here’s the thing. Let’s imagine, God forbid, but let’s imagine that you needed to have a brain operation because you had a lesion right on this frontal lobe of your brain. And there are three options on how you can fix this. Option 1 is you go to your GP and for free, they quickly get in there with that drill and scalpel and chop it out of your brain. Option 2 is you go to a brain surgeon and you pay one thousand dollars for a brain surgeon who’ll do a good job. Option 3 is you find the number one frontal lobe specialist in brain surgery, the world’s number one frontal lobe specialist in brain surgery, and that person costs ten thousand pounds.

Now which one would you pick? I know which one I’d pick. It’s number 3 right? Because here’s the thing, when something serious enough, when it really matters, you want to find the specialist in that area. You don’t want a generalist. You don’t want somebody who does a bit of this and a bit of that. You want the specialist in that area. And when you find the exact specialist that promises to get you the exact result you want, money becomes far less of an issue. And it’s the same with niching your own products and services within your business and within your marketplace. People don’t want to buy a generalist. There may be many things that you do well within your business, and by all means you can keep doing them. But what you need to do is to come across as a specialist in every single one, and you do that with niching.

So in the following videos, I’m gonna show you a series of 10 steps to motivational niching. So that you could get more customers into your business more easily, more often and without having to spend loads and loads and loads marketing the hell out of your business

So I hope that was helpful, and I’ll see you soon.
